Thread: Little Dilemma

    Default Little Dilemma

So it looks like ol' Smaug has a touch of constipation. I'm doing the usual treatment of giving him some peas. Hopefully he's getting enough of it, he only pecks at it but it looks like he's eating some of it. Anyway, the dilemma occurs when it comes time to feed the loaches. Smaug goes after their sinking pellets. I'm trying to not feed him for a few days just to clear him out. I knew he'd go after their stuff. I was thinking I'd soak the pellets for a good while before adding them, to reduce any more complications with his constipation. The other alternative is move him to my QT tank. But I'd rather not do that. Anyone got any other ideas?

You'd have thought I would have thought about that. lol I need to get one because that would be the best way to solve my problem.

What about giving the loaches a bit of a fast as well. I'd imagine they'd be fine with a pea cleanse as well. But I'm not a loach expert.

I knew you guys would have the answer. lol As for the loaches Baxter, I've never seen them show any interest in the peas or I would try that.

Do you fast your tanks at all?...that's the easiest option, until you get a breeder net

I do on occasion. Not with any regularity though. But since this betta has been temperamental I've started him on a schedule and I reckon I'll get the loaches on the same schedule. I just wanted to make sure they were good and healthy before I started that since I just got them. I certainly don't over feed them. Two shrimp pellets a day (for six loaches).
