You could just use tupperware, use aquarium safe silicone and cover the tupperware with the substrate, heck, cut a few holes and make a cave out of it, then mound the black diamond up to it

Is there any kind of paint that is safe for use IN aquariums? I will be using black diamond sand for substrate so I am thinking I could just paint whatever I use black and it would help disguise it pretty well.
Just thought of terra cotta saucers... that might work well and be sturdy.

Krylon Fusion spray paint. If you don't want it to show, use flat paint. Be sure to let the item(s) cure for 7 days before putting in the tank.

Thank you! Is the Krylon fusion paint only for plastic or can it be used on terra cotta or porcelain too? I tried reading the label the last time I went to look at paint but the small print, fluorescent lighting and my progressive lenses refused to work together that day.

I'd still still substrate to it so it looks like it's a mound

But that's just my personal opinion

I may play around with it both ways. Maybe first paint whatever I end up using and then use sealant to adhere substrate over the paint to help it blend in well. I like the mound idea though.

If I set the decor up higher that also opens possibility for taller plants. Bonus!

I didn't find anything suitable to use for risers at wally world and they only had black Krylon fusion paint in satin. I'm thinking I may have to break down and go to Hobby Lobby tomorrow. Darn the luck. :-)
