For now, leaving the lights off is the best thing you can do. This stuff can be tricky and requires a little skill in controlling your light and nutrient levels. How long do you normally keep your lights on?

Is this your 10 gallon tank?

I've had mixed results with my Amano shrimp in eating BBA. A SAE will get too big. I've heard that American Flag Fish will eat it, but I've also heard they can be a bit of a bully and if this is a 10G that may not be enough space.

What all is in the tank currently? Live plants and fish?

BBA is a type of red algae. I've had success using a syringe to spot treat bba on hardscape, just before water changes. Black mollies also eat it, but only when no other food is available.

I've not heard of that being used before. I've used hydrogen peroxide with good results.
