I've been working on my planted tank for a few months, slowly but surely. I'm done and happy with the left side, but not quite sure what to do with the right side. I don't want to do much because I want the left side to be fuller than the right. I was thinking putting in my rock I have picked out, and surrounding it with a little bit of Anubias nana, java fern and bronze wendtii. Maybe a little bit of moneywort for the background. But I'd keep it shorter than the other side will be once it grows up a bit. My family for some reason thinks I should leave the right side blank like it is now. That just doesn't look at all good to me... Tell me what you all think. Positive or negative, I appreciate your opinions!IMG_0843.JPG

That sounds good to me. You add some really tall plants to the back on the left side and really accent that slope to the right. Maybe some Crypt balansae or retrospiralis.

I'd try to find a nice piece of DW for that right side, if it were my tank

We're going to the beach in August and I'm hoping I can find a good small piece of dw and be able to bring it home. I was going to kind of drape it across the rock from the middle of the tank to the back if you're following me at all. Thanks Compass! I like those plants but it's just a matter of can I find them or not. I was planning on mixing in some jungle val with the moneywort but after I planted the moneywort, I thought it would have looked too jungley and I'm going for a cleaner look then that.

Jungle Val is nice but a little too simple looking for my tastes. C. balansae should be easy to find. C. sporalis and C. retrosporalis (not sure if they are the same thing or not), might be a bit harder to source. They just add more interesting colors and leaf textures than vals do in my opinion. Though they won't grow near as fast.

I preferred the balansae over the other anyway so glad that's more common. I've never been a huge fan of the Jungle val either but, it's easy to get here and grows fast with limited maintenance. I like the corkscrew val but it's impossible to get here unless you buy online which I'm also not a fan of. I very much liking the Bronze wendtii crypts so I'm glad you suggested those to me awhile ago. Part of one of them melted, I assume because it was in a new tank. But it seems to be doing better and the other one has always done pretty well.

Lol, I actually did not know that Triton. If I can't find Balansae anytime soon I'll have to take you up on that! How much do you sell them for?
