cleaning a old tank.
I have a old tank form when i used to keep tropical fish years ago. The tank is water tight and a pity to discard it.
How can i clean so i can set up the tank in the house. Is there any special cleaners i need to use?
Words of wisdom welcome

I have always found using vinegar works the best to clean up a old aquarium. If you run into some hard water stains, soaking them in pure vinegar for a while will work. I would not suggest using household cleaners as you could risk leaving a chemical residue in the tank which could cause problems later on.If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

You can also soak a clean cloth in the vinegar and leave it set against the glass too. Get the pure vinegar from the cleaning isle (sold in gallon jugs) instead of the little glass bottles of it -- this will save some money. Don't worry about the smell, it'll dissipate.
How exciting, to be getting back into the hobby!40 gal fw: 3 male Platys; 16 Neon Tetras; 9 Cherry Barbs; ~30 Red Cherry Shrimp; an Assassin snail; a Mystery snail
live plants: 2 Lace Java Fern on dw; a Moss ball; 2 bunches of Java Moss on rocks; some Cladophora algae on dw

You do know about cycling the tank before adding fish right? Just in case here is a link to tell you about it http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aqua...ead.php?t=5640When I go fishing I just place a sharp rock in the water and sit there waiting for all the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
