Default Rob's 10 Gallon Office Space

so I just acquired my co-workers 10 gallon. She's moving offices and just told me to stick it in mine. WOOT. I'll get pictures up sometime on Monday.

    Stock at the moment.

    2X Flame Tetras

2X female guppies plus some babies.

    Plants:

    Anacharis
    Crypt Wendtii
    Amazon Sword
    Water Sprite
    Anubais nana sp petite.

I set this tank up for her so I know the equipment is good (AC 20) and it looks really nice. I need to do a few things to it though. I'm going to try and rehome the fish the only thing I didn't set up for her. The tetras need friends but it's too small a tank and I can't stand guppies. I'm also going to add a black background and maybe change out the Sword for some Crypt undulata.

I'm looking forward to the progress of this tank.

I remember putting an amazon sword in my first 10g planted tank, it took about a half a year I think before it completely took over the tank. That plant moved thru each of my planted tanks over the years.

For fish, maybe consider some sort of microrasbora. Boraras brigittae (chili rasboras) would do well in a 10g. Small fish, so a 10g tank you could have a good sized school of them. Or celestial pearl danio perhaps.

Rob to cool. Free tanks are the best especially when you know the history of it. Have fun with it.

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm totally getting rid of that Sword. Might get rid of the anacharis as well. That stuff is insane!!
I'm not sure yet what I'm going to stock it with though. I like the CPDs and I'd be up for some cory habrosus as well, maybe throw in some ammona shrimp. My only roadbump is that we only have one local LFS and they don't carry the best selection when it comes to fish like that. Best I could get out of them is Neons. Unless they special ordered something for me. Some of the other stores in either Knoxville or Chattanooga have exactly what I want, but I can't exactly go there on a work day. And I don't have the time to go there on a weekend then try and acclimate them at work. If I do end up getting them from out of town, should I hold them in my home tank for a week or so and then move them on a work day? I don't want to stress with too many tank changes though.

If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
