Default Quick Question on Tank size/fish !

    0 Not allowed!
Hey im new here at the community...

Just wanted to get some insurance on my setup as I spend a lot of money setting it up etc.

I have a 10gal tank with the following fish currently inhabiting it.

    1 Pictus catfish
    3 tiger barbs
    1 angelfish

I was curious to see because I do know these fish do grow a bit if this tank would be suitable for them all fully grown? My catfish has been following his reflection swimming in circles for hours and now he seems to be in the same spot swimming in place. Is this normal behavior ? They all seem happy but I did have a albino bristlenose plecostomus in the beginning and he died within a couple days. I couldnt tell if he was feeding but he seemed weak from the store so I think it was out of my control.

Thanks for your time, I've included a picture as well for reference. If I need to move one of the fish I will as I have a independent 5gal tank around. Im hoping things are okay.

I hate to say it. But all 5 of those fish need re-homed or returned.

An angel will quickly outgrow that tank

Tiger barbs need a large school to prevent aggression

The pictus will get about 5" and need a 55-75g tank to have enough space.

If there isn't problems now, very likely there will be future problems

i have to agree with triton, the picus and angel should be in at least a 55g, the TBs wont work at all with either of those.
KING OF THE GOLD BARBS RAWR!!!!

    agreed to the above.
please always do your research before getting new fish/tanks.
fishkeeping is much more complicated than most people realize and failure to inform oneself can result in mistakes that may harm or kill fish.

you might also want to look up "cycling" a tank, in case you haven't yet.
contrary to popular (mis)conception, tanks cannot support fish right off the bat. you first need to establish colonies of beneficial bacteria in the tank which help convert ammonia from fish waste into less harmful substances. good basic articles can be found stickied in the beginner's section.

Sadly some LFS employees will say things just to make a sale... Which appears to be the case here

Yes indeed. I was very thorough with my questions but nice to know I have people here to ask. I think I going to return all of them tommorow but keep my angelfish.

The angel will outgrow that 10 relatively quickly, usually for 1 or 2 I'd recommend a 29, mainly for the additional height. For a 10g there are some great fish available

    Look up
    Chili rasbora
    Lamb chop rasbora
    Celestial pearl danios
    Otocinculus
    Red cherry shrimp

Ya I was thinking about getting him a friend. But Im concerned they will not be happy with the tank now. I'll be very thorough with them tommorow and make sure I pick out some. I'm afraid those are great choices but rather just not as appealing as a catfish or angelfish ya know? I might save up for a larger tank instead thanks for the input

As much as you may want a fish, really need to consider the best long term set up.

There are endless set ups available for many different size tanks, 10g is where is gets a little tough as a smaller tank
