How big are the temperature swings and are your fish showing signs of stress? You may not need to worry about it.
When I go fishing I just place a sharp rock in the water and sit there waiting for all the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

And what types of fish do you have?
Increasing your biodiversity increases your stability.

You know what this tank needs? ........................ Crypts.

a snug fitting glass lid helps a lot. As well as keeping the room cool. A few degrees swing of water temp isn't a bad thing (look at how it happens in nature in shallow creeks)

When we start talking temperatures we frequently encounter two things I personally consider myths.
    1. All our tropical fish need to be kept at temperatures between 25 and 30c. For some species that's true but quite a few are actually perfectly happy between 22 and 25c. Do a bit of research to find out about your fish and you can save some electricty
    2. Temperature should be constant. Many regions where our fish come from experience seasonal differences that can be quite substantial. Also during the rainy season an single day can see 6-8 inches of rain that is considerably cooler than the river the fish swim in. If the water isn't too sheltered by a forest then day/night differences can also be several degrees.

I have a heater in my tank set to 23.5C. That's the lowest temp for my current stock, any lower and they lose colour and become lethargic. I slowly took it down from 25c to get there.

During the summer heat the tank will eventually warm up to 29c during the day and can, depending on the weather, actually cool down to 23.5 during the night. That does not cause any issues with my current stock. When it does get so warm I feed two small meals per day because their metabolism goes way up. I move the filter spraybar a little higher to get more air into the water (warmer water holds less O2) and I keep an eye on the water levels.

I know some people in more extreme weather use fans blowing over the surface. That works but evaporation goes way up. Top up with RO water if you do that or step up your water changes or the mineral content of your water will skyrocket and you don't want that. Also if you frequently experience high temps see about getting a fan with a thermostat control and consider an automatic top-up system (a level control switch with a small pump) connected to a jerrycan of RO water.

if this ends up being a RARE case senario when temp swing is too much and the fish are showing signs then my favorite method of cooling down a tank is either frozen tank water tossed in the tank, or ice packs.... but if you arent there to monitor the temp you can do more harm than good. one of my axolotl owner friends made a diy tank cooler out of styrofoam cooler and salted ice.... but thats a bit extreme as they are quite sensitive to being too warm...

Well, this is what I was getting around to after the OP came back and answered my questions. Most of the fish we keep are tougher than people want to think and a temperature change + - a couple degrees isn't going to hurt them. The important thing is to pay attention to your fish, look at them, if they don't look stressed and are acting normal, stop worrying.

I'm just glad the correct information is here, doesn't matter to me if it was me or you who typed it out.
