It is looking like we won't have to take her in for surgery. The lump is almost completely gone now and we are only half way through the antibiotics. This makes me very happy because the surgery would be risky since she only weighs one pound.

My vet isn't the best with exotic pets so they aren't exactly sure what caused it. Reading around about guinea pigs it seems pretty common though and that antibiotics are a good treatment. Still have a few days worth left.

lol, guinea pigs! I used to have one when I was around 5, too. Cookie was her name and we had her since she was a babe. A friend of mine had GPs that had babies and we inherited her. She was very cute, but very noisy. I'll never forget the noise. lol
I, like Rue's children, got over the GP back then. Cookie turned into my mom's pet, which I don't believe she wanted, either. My dad was our vet and he pretty much just winged it with her. You shouldn't have any problems. They're very easy to take care of and pretty easy to handle.
Congrats on the little guys, though. They're very cute. Not sure I'd own any again (unless my son or daughter really wanted one and convinced me it was a good idea, again), but I still check them out, along with the rabbits and other cuddly things at the pet stores. ;P

20140902_164604.jpgWell we are up to 4 guinea pigs and 2 cages. We had found a cute nearly all white girl back in July that my daughter loved so we added her.
Shortly after we brought her home we figured out one of the original girls, Lolo was pregnant. We brought home 2 girls so it happened before we brought them home. Lolo had her baby August 12, luckily only one. Unfortunately he has a deformed foot so we can't adopt him out without worrying someone would feed him to a snake or something. Since he is a boy he had to be separated from the girls today so we don't wind up with more babies.
