Thanks! I am too. A lot to do to get the 20g ready though but slow and steady, right?

So, I went to 2 stores to look for ammonia and I didn't get it from either one. They did not have the % of ammonia listed anywhere on the bottle and I thought that may make dosing difficult. I may have to wait for the weekend

Don't worry about the %, just make sure there is nothing but ammonia and water in the bottle. The dosing can be figured out bit by bit once you get the ammonia home.
When I go fishing I just place a sharp rock in the water and sit there waiting for all the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Ok, good to know. The one store had ammonia but it was scented. The other store had ammonia with something added to make it smell bad (thought the stuff smelled pretty bad already). It said it was to deter children and pets but would not change the performance of the product. I figured why risk it so I'll hunt around some more in a few days. We live 30 mins from town so I'm not sure I'll be back in town before the weekend. I can be patient though so it's done right!

I can't imagine ammonia needing something added to make it smell bad. You made the right decision to pass those two bottle up. Don't want those additives in the tank.

So, it's been 5 days since my betta made her leap to freedom and found the carpet instead
I have not touched the tank or turned off the filter/ heater. I tested the water just now out of curiosity and guess what? .50 ammonia 0 Trites & Trates. Seriously.. if I ever find ammonia to start fishless cycling, I'll be more excited to see different readings than I will be to eventually add some fish! Lol.

I have sand in both of my tanks and i just hover the hose over the sand. Also i pinch the hose if i suck up sand and let the sand settle back out. it is easy and and looks good too.
    Fishes go "pook pook"

I do like the look of sand and have just never tried it. I'm definitely going to try and find some. I really want some Cories for the 20g and heard they prefer sand as opposed to gravel. I'm sure I'll be able to figure out the cleaning but appreciate everyone sharing their techniques.
