That's a great pic of the rocky mountains
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Big Al's was great.. it was so nice to talk to some very knowledgeable people! All you guys aside, of course. But, they seemed very eager to help and when I told them I was having trouble finding the killies, the guy that orders fish looked them up, found they could get them and said he would bring them in when I needed (even though he will have to order 120 to bring them in). He gave me his name and said to call when I'm ready. They had a big shark tank in there that I really wish I had snapped a pic of.

Thanks! I probably have a million more just like it but every time we go, not sure what it is but they just compel you to take their pic!

The other lfs we went to, I ended up having quite a long discussion with a staff member. He asked about cycling with ammonia.. said he had tried it without much success. Not sure where he figures it went wrong but, whatever. He told me that they carried two kinds of rainbow fish that would work in my 10g. I didn't pay much attention as I've never seen these suggested for small tanks so I dismissed it quickly. Anyone heard of this?

Hmm...a fishless cycle w/ammonia is usually pretty simple, just takes time

I wouldn't take his advice about the rainbows very seriously, if he can't do a fishless cycle

Still, there's many factors to consider

Yeah, like I said, I dismissed the rainbows pretty quickly. I'm not sure why he didn't like fishless cycling.. something about his tanks being all out of whack. He probably just wanted to sell me fish because right away he pointed out their stock of zebra danios. I told him my tank was only a 20H and have heard that danios need more length in a tank. He said, "Oh, ours are only babies.. not even an inch". I asked him what I was to do with them when they grow up and he said they would be fine. I just ended it there by telling him danios weren't what I wanted.

Good job not assuming what he was saying was correct just because he worked at a LFS

This is a great example of why it is always best to do your own research first.

Well, this forum has certainly taught me a lot I didn't know. And I know I have so much more to learn!
