Thread: LED Lights

  1. Default LED Lights

    0 Not allowed!
    Howdy, fish tribe.

Can anyone point me to (or write up) a quick primer on LED lighting? I am a bit sick of buying light bulbs for my T5 and CFL fixtures, and am thinking of switching to LEDs at some point. I don't really know where to start researching. Any suggestions?

    Thanks, as always!

    Tom

When in doubt, do a water change.

Welcome. Get the basics down first and then you can decide on a stock LED fixture or building one from scratch.
When in doubt, do a water change.

Well, in my experience, DIY projects--especially ones involving electricity--end up being more expensive than if I just bought the thing in the first place. ha ha ha

Found a video on the Beamswork fixture. It's a good price, but I can't comment on the quality of the fixture or LEDs.

I have one of the beamswork led fixtures and 2 of the current plus fixtures. The beamswork I have is the 36" with the 6700k leds. It only has 2 settings. The current plus is completely customizable in settings. It is slightly more expensive but does go on sale a lot. The beamswork does grow low light plants well even with high tannin water. I have had it going for almost 2 years now, no problems. Havent had the current plus that long.
