My nitrite is sly high though, is that a bad thing? Do I need to do a WC?
Special thank you to mommy1, KevinVA and slaphppy7 for all the help, it has not been easy!

Didn't really want to add ammonia and I haven't up to now. Will I have to add to complete?

    Appreciate the help
You won't have to add ammonia, but you do need an ammonia source and bottle ammonia is the easiest. You could keep using flake, or find something else like shrimp to rot in your tank and produce the ammonia you need.
If it's called tourist season why can't I shoot them?
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.

As I mentioned I received some today. Just the current tank chemistry baffled me. Showing already high nitrite and some nitrate.

I forgot to add that I have used bio balls in my external canister filter

We keep posting at the same time. You do not need to do a water change for nitrites.

Yep, that's why I wanted you to test your tap. You never know what's in it, until you test. Some people have ammonium, which gives a false positive to ammonia in the tank, some people have nitrates. You have nitrates, so you're getting a false reading in your tank. At least this gives you a control to test by. Now you know what to expect. If you didn't have plants, you'd be able to say that you haven't produced any nitrite oxidizing bacteria in your tank. Right now, it's possible you could have, but your plants are eating the excess nitrates, leaving you with your control.

The most you can do is just wait it out until your ammonia & nitrites drop to 0. You'll likely have a lot more nitrates than you do now. Once you reach 0/0/10+ you'll do a big water change, remove any decayed food left in the tank and finally add your fish. =]

Oh right!!! So these results are much better than seeing nothing at all??

When my ammonia reaches zero, do I need to add more using the ammonia product? Or just wait for them to zero out?

    Sorry for all the questions!
