I've now got a second one that is carrying eggs. How long do they carry them before laying them and how long (if they don't get eaten) till they hatch?

One problem is many different types of shrimp get lumped into the 'ghost shrimp' name once they hit the stores. The problem is ghost shrimp require brackish water during their larval stage of development. So most likely in a regular aquarium those ghost shrimp eggs will not mature into ghost shrimp.

From everything that I've read on dozens of websites ghost shrimp do not require brackish water to give birth including planetinverts. I can't say whether or not they are right or wrong. I guess that I'll find out if any of the eggs hatch and survive.

The big problem is shrimp being sold as ghost shrimp when they are something else. Some are able to reproduce in fw, while some need brackish. Once the eggs hatch, you might be able to see the shrimp in their larval form near the surface of the water. Just noticed the fish you have from your signature line, pretty much all of those will see the larval form as a food source.

All my fish seem to love to eat eggs but none eat fry, so if these shrimp every drop the eggs I will wait and see if any make it.

The shrimp are still carrying the eggs and they have turned green. Not sure if this is a normal thing or not ???? No signs of stress on the shrimps part, but neither have attempted to drop the eggs yet.
