  1. Default Lighting Fixture/Hood Help!

    0 Not allowed!
Hello everyone. Here's my problem. I am starting a second tank. It will be a 10 gallon planted shrimp tank. I am on a budget and do not want to spend $100+ on a lighting fixture.
I found that Aqueon sells an aquarium hood I can fit into my budget:

I want the Coralife Aqualight 6,700K bulb for my tank:

Will the light bulb and the hood be compatible?
If not, anyone have a good lightbulb that would be compatible with that hood within the 5000K-6700K range?

    Thank you!

The links did not work for me but I believe you are trying to use a T5 HO in an Aqueon fluorescent hood? If that is the case, no it will not work, it would need to be used in the Aqueon dual tube T5HO fixture.

I've got a small 10 gallon planted tank and the standard Aqueon 20 inch fluorescent hood works just fine for my plants, anubias, moneywort and hornwort.......but granted hornwort would probably grow in a closet! :)

Yeah, you need to look for a T8 20" light bulb. You can actually get what you want from Lowes. I personally get the one designed to mimic daylight.

You know what this tank needs? ........................ Crypts.

Thank you for the replies. I have decided to use the hood and get a Hagen Life Glo bulb. It is 6700K just as I wanted and it is T8.
