So I've taken a real interest in native North American fish. I thought you all would enjoy seeing one of the prettiest ones there is. The Tangerine Darter. Personally I think all the darters are gorgeous, but this rivals anything you see in tropical or even marine environments. Enjoy.

Are just some fish I wanted before I realized they were essentially impossible for me to obtain.

Therein lies the rub. Unless you live in the same area as the fish does, they are incredibly difficult if not impossible to obtain. Especially transporting them outside the US. I'd love to get some Bleeding Shiners unfortunately they live in the Ozarks and I do not. So awesome looking though.

Nice find, maybe someday they will ship to Canada, TWS was trying to work this out.

Some day I want to do a "Wyoming Foothills Creek" biotope with redside shiners, paiute sculpins, mountain suckers, and yellowstone cutthroat trout. I know how to do it, just don't have the money or space, as it would have to be a big (150g +) tank with a chiller. But it's fun to think about. :)

I have kept a lot of the wild fish around here, and most of them are not terribly striking to look at (the flathead chub is an exception; a school in a well-lit aquarium are very striking), but they more than make up for it in their behavior.

That's a great site, I've visited it several times. If I wanted something like those Tangerines above, I'd have to get permission from TWRA (the feds). You can't just go out and collect those.
