Default Guppy giving birth to dead fry

    0 Not allowed!
Came home today to one of my females giving birth. Then I noticed that she was giving birth to more than 1 at a time and that they simply fell to the bottom of the tank dead. She seems to be struggling with this latest round of giving birth. Seems more stressed than former times. I'd hate to lose her, but really beginning to get concerned.

Here's a shot of the last 3 dead fry being born. Since I've been home all 11 babies were born dead.

I had to put her down this evening. After a few more dead babies, something started coming out that can best be described as a red tube. Maybe intestine of some sort. All the other fish were avoiding her like the plague and she was stressed in a bad way. She was my prettiest female. I've got a handful of her last batch still in the tank, so hopefully one of the females will turn out like her.

That red tube might have been a worm or other parasite of some sort. You might want to dose the tank with some PraziPro just to be safe.
When I go fishing I just place a sharp rock in the water and sit there waiting for all the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Everything Happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
A moderator on a fish forum should be able to identify an oscar... Don't you think?

I did a huge water change this morning and will keep a close eye on the other fish over the next few days. This makes the 2nd guppy that I've lost while they're giving birth. I know that giving birth is stressful and hard (on any mother) but this is tough.

It's been months since I lost the last one and these are the only deaths I've had in a long time.
