I get you but like I said, I think your "poop" theory works for me as they appear very well fed ;-)

thanks for the kind words, y'all.

    OK... so Rummy questions:

Keeping in mind I *will* stock a good amount of bottom dwellers -- including a nice school of Sterbai Corys if it takes me all year, dangit -- ........ I digress....

so how many Rummys should I start off with?
and: Is that # advisable to add in all at once? (I'm willing to build up the school if it is better for them to add say... a dozen at first, then add in 6 more later)

Also, my lfs told me they don't know which of the 3 types of Rummy that will come in next. Does it matter? Should I hold out for Hemigrammus bleheri (I think that is the one I've seen y'all talk about and is Lee's vid above too) or are the Hemigrammus rhodostomus or the Petitella georgiae (which I read can withstand harder water -- great news for me!) just fine?

Bleheri are more common in the trade, if I'm not mistaken...i asked my LFS which ones they keep, they had no idea, luckily they were bleheri....and get yourself 20, all at once...slow acclimate, in the bag, your water's fine

12-15 would be fine for a nice school, start with at least 15, in case a couple don't surivive, all mine have from TWS, but LFS always seem to have a small motality rate. Petitella georgiae is very hard to find, most LFS seem to stock Hemigrammus bleheri, which should do fine in your tank, even if rhodostomus is supposed to be the hardiest of the two, TWS had both on their last stocking list. Bleheri is the most attractive of the three, IMO, because the "red" extends past the gills.

digs this journal up, so I can find in from tapatalk too -- lol

These are Hemigrammus bleheri also, I am pretty certain. I still have all 22 -- yay! I really like these guys!! I did not think to ask how old they are, though. My youngest daughter took her turn at naming this school and they have been dubbed 'Aggies' -- a great school for a great school of fish. Gig 'Em!

The 2 little ones really are super scrawny -- I really hope this does not indicate disease or anything, but the store did not lose any from the shipment (of 100) and I purposefully let them remain in the store for a few days (Thurs through Sunday afternoon).

    In the bag.

Yes, I followed the float method recommended by my friends here. I also draped a dark (purple cause it is my dust cloth for my tank) over the front side of the bag to keep the house lights dimmer.
