Today I came home from work and found our GBR female dead. She had a small white circle on her just before her tail only on one side. The bigger question is how long should i wait to find the male a new female? I will wait at least two weeks plus finding him a new girl. When I added the male six months after the female they both colored up beautifuly and swam around togeather.

Oh no, so sorry to hear that, cm. Maybe one of the ram experts will chime in with the info you need.

Again, sorry for your loss...how long did you have her? What other fish are in the tank, and do they all seem ok?

ammonia spike from unknown source? rams are notorious for being sensitive fish.
hope you have better luck with them in the future.

not sure where the ammonia spike came from i drew six test tubes and 1 tested .25 ppm and the 2 tested 0 ppm. all drawn at the same time. also could ammonia spike come from deceased GBR in the tank while i was at work?
