If I purchase pool filter sand instead of play sand will I still have to clean it the way you do with the play sand or can I put it directly into my aquarium?

All sand is going to be at least a bit dusty. Personally, I don't rinse any of it anymore and just let the dust settle. When I go fishing I just throw sharp rocks in the water and wait for the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.

Its not too hard to rinse the sand. I saw a video on youtube where they used a 2 littre bottle to add sand under the water, that cleaned the sand while adding it.
