    Default Java Moss

I just got some java moss, my first live aquarium plant. It will be going in to a 10 gallon guppy tank, where I'm hoping it will protect the fry as well as being fun to take care of. Should I leave it floating or tie it down? Also, does anyone have an estimate on how fast java moss will grow?

Given enough nutrients it can grow quite fast. It should do ok just floating but will be rubbish to look at. I'd tie it down to something.

    +1 to the above

I always had the best luck attaching it to drift wood.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Thanks guys! I decided to tie some down and leave a little floating to see how it turns out. I'm still open to ideas, though.

if you tie it down to rocks/driftwood (preferred) use thread or fishing line to secure it.

I tucked mine under a corner of a decoration I have...then found that some had escaped and set up camp near the back of the tank. You will probably get some shooters like that, but you can do most anything with it. I have heard of java moss walls with large mesh...that would be sweet.
20 gallon with a male betta, neons, glowlights, and red cherry shrimp. (work in progess) Recently added a few LIVE plants and driftwood, Woooohoooo!
