New Panda Garra fry!!
0
Well I was doing some tank housekeeping today and something caught my eye. A little tiny fry guy! So far I have found four. From my 3 adults, not sure which is male or female(s). Im just deliriously happy, these are my favorite fish. Each is about 1/2 inch long and I have no idea how long they were there. Not sure if they are livebearers or if these were from eggs. Here is two in this pic. Obviously the gravel doesnt help with spotting them LOL. Do you see both? I did already check my filter and 'sealed' it up a bit more than normal. How could I not know of them, Im always playing around in the tank, they love it being fed in my hand and crawl all over my arm. I never saw it coming. :-(

Lol, in order for fry to survive they have to be very good at hiding. Congratulations! They are cute little guys aren't they. JFYI, they are egg layers.
When I go fishing I just throw sharp rocks in the water and wait for the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Dear naps, sorry I hated you so much when I was a child... Love me

Thanks! I did look up breeding last night, sorry this is in the wrong section, thank you for all the FYI. Ive looked them up before, even in stores I research, BUT I know I do always skip over the breeding section since that's never my intention. I had gotten the three highly recommended from my good LFS, on size, temperment etc. They werent the most flashy fish and they were a bit pricey IIRC $22 each, however I got them on their annual anniversary sale, 40% off. I too now recommend them highly. You don't get the real world from internet info on a quick search.
Mine at least are not afraid of anything. They never bother anyone or anything. Never dig or eat plants. Never skittish or hiding all day. Ive had the trio for about 8 months, possibly still juvenile at that time. Now they are all fully 2 inches and have a striking red tinge to each fin.
So far it is four babies. I don't find any others. Going to try for better pics with the macro lens today! :-)

Thanks for the fishy! (I tried to 'thumbs up' you, but it went red and thumbs down, so I panicked and reversed it I think). Yes I googled them that day too. Couldn't tell much, but more wanted to verify the fish store claim to 'maximum of 2 inches'.

giving a thumbs up changes it to red so you can take it a way if you wanted
but it is always nice to have bonus fish when you were not expecting it or trying to get them to breed - except for livebearers as they are always breeding lol. Although I have noticed the fry population in my main tank to be lower lately. That or they got really good at hiding. I think the pearls may be eating some of them.
