  1. Default Lethargic dwarf gourami

I've had a dwarf gourami for about 5 months. Up until a few days ago he seemed perfectly happy, swimming around and eating every time I fed the fish. However, he is now spending most of his time just hanging out at the surface in a corner of the tank. He's not gasping or anything, he just seems really lethargic. He also hasn't eaten the last couple times I've fed them.

He's in a 20 gallon tank with 8 tetras. I haven't seen any aggression between any of the fish and all the tetras are acting normal. Nobody seems sick or anything. Ammonia and nitrites are 0, nitrates are 10-20 ppm.

Any ideas? Is my dwarf gourami depressed? Is there anything I can do?

    Thanks everyone!

Hmm could be first signs of dropsy or ich. If hes been going strong for 5 months I don't see why he would be stressed out now. Did you do anything to the tank recently and whats the water temp?

How does his gut look? Is he bloated or does he have a spot near his anus that looks swollen?
If so, he may be constipated. My DW g used to over eat on occasion, get constipated, then hang in a corner for a few days until he worked it out of his system.

I can't tell for sure, but he doesn't really look any different to me. I'm hoping it's constipation though. Thanks!

Try feeding him shelled peas, that will help if the problem is due to constipation
