cool possible oddball bottom feeder
0
I have a 55 with a 7" senegal bichir, 5" leopard cntenopoma and a 6" brown knife. they all get along great, once in a great while the cntenopoma chases the knife away when theres rare treats like beefheart, etc. but 90% of the time total harmony. I want to get a bottome feeder that is mellow but wont get eaten (preferable something in the oddball catagorie) but I am open to all suggestions. this setup will be going into a 75 or 100 this year. I have a huge awesome piece of driftwood, lots of java moss and a few java ferns. tell me what you think. ph is 7, 76-77 degrees well established tank. 2 aquaclear 300's (an older version on the AC70 i think)

While those are all semi-agressive fish, I think you'd be fine with most any bottom feeder that gets to a similar size. First thought that comes to mind is an African Featherfin Catfish, or other synodontis catfish. They're not aggressive but they get big enough to not be messed with by any of the fish you mentioned. Then of course there are obvious suggestions like plecos. Maybe a small school of Pictus Catfish would do well. Those are just initial ideas. I'm sure there are more possibilities.

Not really Oddfellow, but for a Fairly large and peaceful Substrate dweller, what about the various Raphael Cat Species?

It would be awesome to own a tank large enough to support such a fish!

I don't, but agree that it's a very cool looking fish. I might be concerned that it would be a little cramped in a 55 once fully grown. Again, I've never owned one and could very well be wrong about that.

They're an artificially produced hybrid, never had one myself, but if they grow as quickly as the eupterus (one of the parent species) it will reach nearly full size in a matter of months. Better to wait for the larger tank before stocking another fish that will quickly outgrow/crowd the 55.
