  1. Question Will a black kuhli loach live in a 10 gallon tank?

    0 Not allowed!
Hey my friend has a disabled 10 gallon tank. For his birthday I'm going to surprise him by setting it back up and stocking it. For the middle fish I'm thinking 5 Neons or 5 zebra Danios. I also want to get him an Otocinclus for the glass. For the bottom though I'm having a tuff time picking something out. Will the black kuhli loach be a good choice. If you have any other suggestions feel free to tell me. Thanks!

Zebra danios are not suitable for a 10 gal. They are active fish and need a much longer tank. They will become stressed and start nipping fins.

Ottos should really be kept in groups.

A nice school of the neons and maybe pygmy cories for the bottom? Or check out microrasboras - a school of 10-12 would be nice.

Hm m I've seen the microrasboras I think the neons would be better for this tank. I love cories the only problem is the gravel he has is sharp, I've only kept cories on sand. you know what though I think he would love African dwarf frogs. Maybe 3 of those will do it. So Ottos need groups? do they shoal or just enjoy company?

if you still are going with black khulis, they'd require 6 or more.
the otos are a strange case. some absolutely swear by schools. I had 3 otos who ignored each other and were each doing their own business, heard people
sing praises of keeping them in schools, got more, and now I have 7-8 otos that ignore each other and are all doing their own business. I wouldn't keep them alone though, 3 sounds like a good minimum number to me.

Well here's what I'm thinking ether 6 glow light danios, 6 harlequin rasboras, or 6 neon tetras, For the bottom 2 dwarf frogs. And maybe 3 otos depending on how good his filter is, probably not good enough.

I have a few ottos that seem to play and enjoy each others company, I also have ottos that ignore the other ottos. I still think they get stressed when kept alone even if they don't interact with the others.

The glowlight danios are not considered a micro fish, as they require a minimum 30 inch long tank. They are small, but very active. A 20 long would be the minimum size.
