I have a full grown angelfish (impulse buy) who is everything you could want in one BUT I'm gonna be coming across some money soon and I ALWAYS from the first time I decided to start this tank wanted a golden german ram but cost wise couldn't do it now that I can I was wondering if I switch my angelfish out for one how timid are they? will it beg for food or tend to hide in a tank like mine? I want a standout fish like that.

I'm also open to other dwarf cichlids ( I know very little about them) if they are known to be social and they have to really shine in a black sand/background planted tank with tons of driftwood with a low ph of 6.8 iirc.

Just so you know I have no intention of keeping an angelfish and another cichlid in there of course.
Long time fish keeper most experience with CA/SA cichlids, natives like sunfish, and aggressive catfish.
Currently have a 29g planted with 14 candy cane tetras, 6 sterbai corys, 6 melini corys, a rescued Siamese fighting fish and 1 mustache wearing albino longfin pleco.

You need to judge the fish in the tanks where you go to buy. Gbr, Bolivian, keyhole and many others can be skittish or very active.cichlids are much like people, personality can be very different.

Read the primer in the dwarf cichlid section of the forum, it has a lot of great information. I opted away from GBRs because of the heat needed, ended up with a pair of kribs and they're definitely the stars of the tank

I had heard some skittish stuff/temp issues before I just always want more fish and I have no room. My angelfish is great maybe I should just be happy I have all those fish and they don't bully each other to begin with; That in itself seems like a rarity!
