If you still think the flow is too strong, you can add more holes to the spraybar - more holes will help to reduce the flow. Start by adding 1 or 2, then see what happens. Just be sure that you still have enough circulation to keep the tank healthy.

Ok, I might be using the wrong terminology then. There aren't any holes in the spraybar. It is just a large opening. filstaroutletnew.jpg

yeah, that's a nozzle you've pictured....a spraybar is a long rigid tube with a bunch of holes in it, spreads out the flow over a larger area

That is the nozzle that came with my XP-M canister.

Are you or the hubby handy? I am making a spraybar for my XP-M as the flow is too strong. I will probably post the DIY info next week in my dual 29 gal journal.

We are pretty handy. We might consider that. I have been calling it a spray bar b/c that is how our fish dude explained it. Ooops.
Will turning the nozzle against the glass work the same way it would for a spray bar?

It will help, but not nearly as much as if it were a spray bar.

The PVC components for the DIY spray bar can be bought at Home Dept. Being you have the same filter as I do, they would be the same ones.

Well we landed on a name. He is going to be called Max. That being said, Max is still in hiding mode. We bought a piece of driftwood for our pleco, Tiberius, last night. He has now claimed this as his new home. Max has taken over the cave that Tiberius used to hang out in. He did not eat tonight but I'm not going to stress about that yet.

Pics of my prototype spraybar -

The last one is how it would sit over the tank frame. The canister hose attached to the barbed piece on the right, which is screwed into the PVC elbow.
