Visited a friend for first time at home and found she has a 300 G megatank in her living room. Well, it takes up half her living room (small, English houses!) ... Totally gorgeous natural scape with pebble substrate from our local beach, rocks from the local cliffs, two massive pieces of driftwood and delightful forest of crypts. Inhabitants are a stunning sailfin plec (the reason the tank came to be, apparently!), some zebra loaches, some Siamese algae eaters, two massive Angels she's had for 6 years and a really eye-watching large group of rainbowfish ... The whole thing is beautiful and I am so jealous!!! My tank feel tiny and badly scaped (overly complicated!) in comparison. Her tank has been running for 6 years now and she says it's never caused her any hassle. It just looks after itself mostly with 3-monthly crypt taming and monthly WC. All the fish looked vibrant and active. Totally gorgeous.

10g planted: Occasional platies & black devil trumpet snail

We can't compare with others all the time although I do understand. I have seen other tanks I'm in awe of but they just wouldn't suit what I keep. The beauty of the lightly stocked 300 is less WC's. That is nice and I can imagine how natural it must look. A photo would have been nice lol...

I always love seeing other tanks....some are just breathtaking! But I still like my little 50 and enjoy every minute with it! Sounds like your friend has an amazing tank!

Nice to hear of someone keeping big fish in a decent sized tank! A fully grown sailfin plec in a tank that size would be lovely to see.Usually you always hear about big fish being kept in too small a tank either ignorantly or temporarily. And also share the feeling that your own tank could be nicer if we only knew what to do with the scaping, lol.

Not sure why you didn't sneak a pic for us tho ;)

Yah its hard to be happy with what you've got in the aquarium hobby. Seems every one has bigger and better tanks than you. I would love to see a pic

I'm happy with my 3 tanks. I think even the smallest of tanks can be the coolest with aqua scape
