Brought the uncured live rock home this morning and aquascaped, now it is cycling, house smells a bit, retro-fitting the canopy to set up the EcoTech Gen 3 pro's. Is the hard part over???

Brings back fond memories (kind of, LOL) and looking at the size of your tank I'm officially jealous, LOL.

Wish you all the best on your endeavor, I realy enjoyed my SW tank years ago.

Looks like everything is mving along nicely

Did you leave enough room to remove the skimmer cup and/or the motor for routine cleanings ?

    Default Diatoms, yay?

    0 Not allowed!
    Hey there,

So I looked in my tank on Saturday morning and there was a little bit of diatoms present, then I looked again Saturday night and there was a lot. I looked in on the aquarium on Sunday and its like my sand has grown a small lawn. I have read and knew this was going to happen but it is quite alarming at how quickly it is spreading. What should I do now? Nothing? clean the tank? can I add in a clean up crew, my ammonia is still present at about 1.5 mg/l? Any advise?

    Thank you all.

Also is there anything I can use my wastewater for (water changes)? I would love to be able to use the waste from my aquarium in some beneficial way or at least the gunk that comes out of my protein skimmer.

    Thanks

How much flow do you have in your tank right now?

Can you post a pic of what is growing on the bottom ?
