My inlaws like and have fish, but don't keep them properly so I can't really have a conversation with them without trip g to educate them which can come across as insulting so I just keep my mouth shut.
By improper fish keeping I mean not caring if a species should be kept in a group and having only 1 of 20 different kinds of fish in a tank, no wc only top ups...etc.

Dang, I wouldn't be able to keep my mouth shut, lol...but it is rather large

I'm here frequently for the same reason alot of you are, no one close to me (except for my daughter, and to a lesser degree Mrs. Slap) is enthused by fishkeeping as much as my friends here at the AC...you are a great bunch of gals and guys, and I feel less fish-nerd-geeky when I'm in your virtual presence.

my wife as well doesn't share the same interest but the kids sorta do, they like the fish but are to young to understand the keeping of fish. Maybe as they get older and learn to care for them better they can get their own (well my youngest anyways - my oldest I don't know if I will ever trust to a tank due to health issues). Although when were looking at tanks to start she almost bought a used 72 gallon bowfront that had about 8 piranhas in it and everything.
    Current tanks:
37G FW - 3 Pearl Gourami, 4 Black Mollies, approximately 20+ Molly Fry, 5 Assassin Snails | 10G Planted FW - 14 Molly Fry, rocks, DW and an Anubias Nana - journal

Guess I'm lucky. My wife is almost as into it as I am. I do most of the research and upkeep, but she is more than willing to talk fish, aquariums, filters, etc, etc. She absolutely loves our fish and will sit and watch them with that awed look on her face that I'm sure we're all familiar with. The only downside is that when we get the urge for yet another tank, there's no resistance to the idea, which is how we ended up with seven of them. There are probably more in our future.

I currently have 5, but I had 7. I probably would have kept the other two, if more people in the house showed interest, rather than distaste. lol Positive reinforcement goes a long way.

I'm always talking fish or turtle or bearded dragon. Always about what I just finished making for one of them or who just had babies, what tank just got rearranged. lol Home, out with friends/family, facebook.... My wife doesn't mind too much because she into it almost as much. Everyone else I drive nuts. If you come up to me we'll talk about how youre doing, your kids for a couple... then its animals. lol

I get in trouble for gazing at my fish tank whenever we are playing games or eating dinner in the dining room. He's like, my eyes are over here, lol. My husband limited me to one fish tank! At least until we have a house, then try to stop me, bwahahaha!
