    Default noisy aquaclear 70 motor

I have 6 aqua clear filters of varying sizes between my three tanks and they are all absolutely silent except for one of my 70s. the motor has a louder noise and has a sort of grindy tone to it. Ive pulled it off and taken out the drive shaft to make sure it was clear but havent done anything else. any ideas?

Add a little vaseline to the impeller shaft...make sure when you re-install the motor you don't "spin" it all the way on so that it does not touch the filter housing

Mine was a little noisy at first but quieted over time, after I did the above

Mine vibrates like a son of a gun. Does yours still do that, Matt?

I've noticed it only makes noise when it needs cleaned (when the motor is working harder to get water through the sponge)

Nope...every once in a while the lid rattles a tiny bit, I just play with it until it stops.

I think mine is just too snug on there. I have just enough room between the wall and the tank... plus it just fits on the rim of the tank (and only if I shove it down with some force). lol

Sometimes a little vaseline on the magnetic part of the impeller helps as well. Slap..I've found one of the best things for a vibrating lid is a book...I can move it around until it finds that "happy" place.

Not sure if the AC70 has the tab on the backside of the lid - my AC110s did and I cut them off so the lid fit securely. I could never get it to sit properly because of that tab.
