Default two different gouramis or one type different sex?

I bought 2 honey grouamis around a month ago if not longer. they aren't the best of friends and I have been adding tall stuff whenever I can find it regardless of how it looks to give the larger one cover. One is thicker with the body of most gouramis I've seen. It's the more peaceful one that is chased by the other. The other is more slender and has a yellowish tip to his dorsal fin. (i think its dorsal)

I have been googling photos of male and female with no luck in comparison. I was told they were both honeys and both male. I would love some help with figuring out if I have a male and female or 2 different kinds of gouramis. I hope these photos are okay. I'm also posting a photo of my tank in the hopes I will get adice on adding more plants or taking some out. it looks crazy in there. I can never find the same plants and grab whatever is taller.

gourami.jpg this is the more aggressive one.

gourami2.jpggourami1.jpg these 2 are the poor passive one.

    tank2.jpg this is my tank

They both appear female, although the head shape of the 2nd picture fish strikes me as unusual for a honey gourami.
I've got a harem with both sexes, if I figure out how I'll post pictures.

When I first looked at the pictures, I thought the first one was of a dwarf gourami male, but I could be wrong.

I am afraid these are no "true" honeys but a capitive bred variaty of the colisa / trichogaster Labiosa (thick lipped gourami). Those are more agressive and not real dwarfs. Think you do have a male and female.

so whatever i have it seems to be a male and a female? should i eventually shoot for another female to have the 1 male to 2 female ratio? Should i put them in separate tanks or with more cover will they be fine? do I have enough cover?

I can't take them back to the lfs. I feel like i rescue anything I get from there which is saying something considering my struggle at home lol

The thinner one is the male and the thicker one the female. Never kept those, but you
Could try to give it loads of (floating) plants. Don't know if these are better of in a harem? Other menbers might hae more experience with this species.
