    I have a tank 36x15x18 just wondering what size wattage should i be using here and any particular make ,

    Yeah. 200 watt. What are you running for filtration? You could go with an inline heater like a Hydor unit if you are running a canister.

    Im using a teltrec 1200

    does it matter if i use a 300 watt ?

    i live in ireland so plugs maybe different

    Not really, it would warm your water faster, but if it malfunctions it would also cook your fish much quicker.

    I went with the Visi-therm stealth heaters years ago because they had a lifetime guarantee. Then they came out with the next model with the indicator lights that sometimes exploded, and they were all recalled. I still have a couple of the old ones in use, only had 2 of those overheat when they died over about 10 years, more often they tended to leak electricity into the water. Would notice a slight pain from hangnails when my hand was in the water. I switched to Jager heaters, have had several of those develop condensation inside the glass, but were still under warranty. No overheating from them yet, or electrical "leaks" into the tank/s.
