    A popular filter for 10 gallon tanks is the aquaclear 20 or 30 [I am personnaly use the 30 on my 10 gallon as well]

    what filter and heater do you have by the way?

    If your going with Neons, please, please, make sure your tank is completly cycled!! This is the downfall of many new people and the poor Neons die and the person is "put off" and thats the end of thier tank keeping.

    Grunchyleaf gives great of advice with her suggestion of research, don't just jump in like you already said.

    Thank you all very much. I really appreciate all the great advice and feel like I've developed a much greater understanding with regard to stocking my tank. I hope in the future I'm able to give some poor beginner such sound advice :)

    At this point, I Just have the filter and heater that came with the "aquarium kit" I got. The filter is a Tetra whisper pf10. From what you guys have all shared, it seems like I should upgrade for sure. I will look into the aquaclear filter you've recommended frozentundra, thanks!!

    We would love you to keep us updated so we can give you a heads up if there are pitfalls in your future. I love when someone new comes along and within a couple of months they are the ones helping the new members who are overwhelmed. It just makes us all better.

    Hi all,

    I was thinking of the following stocking scheme, plus some red cherry shrimp:

    -6 Chili rasbora OR 6 spotted blue eyes;
    -6 Celestial pearl danio;
    -1 dwarf gourami

    Any opinions on this? If not the dwarf gourami, any other ideas for a centerpiece-type fish? Thanks for any input!!

    With an AC30 (30 gallon) filter, you would be reaching the max you could stock that 10 gallon...but I am not sure of the compatability of the 3 fish you have chosen...someone else may chime in with an opinion on that
