Here is a pic of my test last night, first one since taking out the scrubber. While it looks great, I'm still confused, on the whole. I thought the Nitrates would rise, but they barely register, and whats with ammonia that shows almost clear in the tube? Shouldn't it read something in the yellow band? Both tanks were very similar.

Um, no I didn't forget the drops. LOL I have another almost identical pic of my main tank test as well. You can see above in the pic the nitrates is yellow, so obviously I added something. The ammonia also has the faintest yellow tinge toward the top of the vial (yes I shook it). IMO I would have expected ammonia to be bright yellow, and nitrate to be orangy-yellow.

Glad to hear you took out that scrubber. Those up-flow scrubbers (IMO) are just about the worst design you could think of for a algae scrubber
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
