Yes 3. If food is not eaten after a while I remove it before it becomes a soupy lump in the bottom.
UPDATE: got the little guy to eat a big meal. Darker coolers looking better and top fin is extend more often. Still not touching pellets or flakes but gets aggressive when feeding thawed krill. Even bottom feed to get what came out of gills when chomping.

Is it bad for them to eat nothing but thawed krill, brine or mysis shrimp?

Glad to hear he's looking better. It's good that you are removing the uneaten food. I'll let someone with more oscar knowledge weigh in on proper diet.

In the short term it shouldn't matter much. It is better to be eating something rather than nothing. In the long term, the fish should really be weaned off frozen foods to more nutritionally balanced pellets. Depending on the size of the krill and mysis, have you tried stuffing pellets into them?

glad to hear he's eating something. + to Crunchy and Madagascar.
Also, you might try soaking some pellets in garlic (your LFS should have it) Generally fish are attracted to the garlic and will eat.

    Hey all
    heres my 2 cents worth
I have 2 tiger oscars in a 60 gal for now I am still trying to talk the wife into a 100gal. Ok previous to 2 or 3 weeks ago my 2 would come to the top and eat no problem then they started to mouth more often (I read somewhere that when they mouth they are probably establishing domonance .Well they both stopped eating and started to hide when I approched the tank 2 days niether would eat 3 days 4 5 6 so I stopped feeding them alltogether for 2ish days Then surprise the larger one started to come out of the cave then both so I stood 2-3 feet away from the tank and tossed in pellets They started to eat.First the larger then the smaller. So to wrap up my long winded post things are comming back to normal.Good luck is wished to you

The food that got soggy was soaked in a garlic liquid I picked up along with the frozen foods. I didn't want to leave it in there seeing how my QT is only 10gal and don't want to cause more stress.
I will try stuffing the smaller pellets into the shrimp in hopes that it will become more familiar with the texture of pelleted food.
Wife is willing to try whatever I can to get this poor guy up to par and eating well before returning to main display

Firstly, I would say 3 Oscars in 55 is overstocked.. minimum 55 g long tank is required for 1 Oscar, SO i think because of this your Oscar might be stressed. http://www.oscarfishlover.com/oscars-need-big-tanks

Secondly, as other said there has to be hiding spots and moreover 3 Oscars on 55 you need lot of cleaning as Oscars produce lots of waste.

Thirdly, Oscars have tendency to stop eating for no reason. http://www.oscarfishlover.com/helpfu...oscar-wont-eat
I have 2 Oscars in 200 G, one day one of my Oscar stopped eating for no reason, continued not to eat for 4 or 5 days and again started eating. Not eating i would say vacuuming the food :P.

If your fish seems healthy otherwise then he may start eating itself.. I would do lots of water change to keep them healthy.

    hope your 'O' recovers soon...
