    Default 50 Gallon Cichlid Stocking

    Hi I am Currently saving up for a 50 gallon tank for African cichlids. I barelly know anything about cichlids and what can go together some need some help.
    The aquarium dimensions are 12" by 48" and a height of 20"

    I could be wrong, but I own a 55 gal, and those are roughly the same dimensions.

    I would say no... I would also throw out there that Mbuna are advanced fish. If you dont know anything of them I would go for peacocks. They stay small enough to house 25 or so in a 55gal with propper rock work and have a great set of color and flash with an all male tank.

    They're on the aggressive side (perhaps among the most aggressive species in the hobby) and are probably best kept in somewhat larger tanks (75-90gal) with other aggressive types. A hyperdominant male aurutus could become a menace in 55gal tank.

    Peacocks are more peaceful when compared to the average mbuna but they tend to be a larger fish. 25 peacocks (full grown specimens at 5"-7" depending on species) seems like quite a lot.
