But I also wasnt asking to be mod so I guess I should have been clearer in my question.

DW guys I think I understand the go now.
Think of it this way. William is the owner of the site. If we want to change / add any features on the forum he has to approve because as the owner of this site, he alone is fully responsible for the costs, and fully accountable to ensure the site is not infringing upon any laws that may apply (like copyrite or lenience laws).

The process would be that we make our suggestions to William and William will let us know what he thinks
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Yes Cliff. I'm well aware of this, and i think my analogy still stands, if not stronger than before.

A king is the owner of the land, everything needs approval of the king because he alone is fully responsible for the costs and accountable to ensure he He doesnt start a war with the Copyright Crusaders! We make our suggestions to the king, and he lets us know what he thinks.

Hahaha don't get me wrong, I dont see anything wrong with that. If I had my own kingdom I would certainly be running it.

    It's all in good jest.
(look at that! Another medieval reference!? This guy is pure genius.)

Basically. you are right. I am the king and can do what i want. I can also Veto any proposal
    However:
Many decision are put to a vote among the staff before we make any changes
    and:
often, when possible, I try to put things out on vote among the general membership as well to get the input from the members. I usually follows what is decided even if can choose not to. As you have seem some examples of lately.
Do as I say. Not as I do.

Hahaha I like that you just straight up said "I am the kind and can do what i want". I was getting the impression Cliff was trying to ward me from the wrath of your highness haha, although the way you typed "I can also Veto any proposal" almost threateningly on the end of the sentence was a bit puerile. No offense, I'd say I've been puerile majority of the time - with my castle folly and all.

So what do you think of the idea William?

Assuming it flies, how do videos get ok'd for posting? Not everyone agrees on how things should be done or what fish need what care...we would want AC vids to be very factual and professional..as close to uncritisizable as possible...I'm not sure how many vids/topics of that sort could be put together, once the basic care and nitrogen cycle vids are done. AC wants to build/maintain a good reputation.

People seem mostly in favour (the only reason I'm not is because I don't have unlimited bandwidth, don't frequent youtube, and could not help with the project) but someone would need to agree on content and topics ahead of time, whose doing whcih, as well as have a few months vids ahead before posting started to give some sort of buffer.

It would be nice too, seeing as there could be many people doing these vids, that something of an AC template be created for all to follow so as to give all AC videos some consistency and a home or AC theme.

I might be jumping ahead of the horse AND the cart here, but those were just some thoughts of mine as I was reading the thread.

Ah, its time to go let my new fish loose into my tank!

You can do species specific videos for fish and plants, different types of lighting, substrates etc but in general would just be the experiences of members and that would need to be known a head of time

No offense taken. I see what you mean but that was not the way I indended it to sound and it was in no way aimed at this suggestion. I added that because i usually try to get the community input and try to follow the will of the community when possible but sometimes i have to go against the will of the community and veto things when there are compelling reasons to do so. I do however see how it appeared and I should have read it a second time before i posted it. I am sorry about that.

I think it is potentially a good idea. Everything will come down to execution. Lets see how many seem to be interested in your poll.

I agree completely. There would need to be a "template" for the videos and the videos would then have to go through an editorial process before they were posted. I also think it would be good if members focused on videos for a certain group of fish, their specialist area. Also good for people who wants become authorities in an area.

If the info is a bit off, then I dont think it's doing anyone harm to just be honest and say, for example; "I dont want to recommend people do this" or something. (now i read this back, that was probably obvious and not exactly the answer ahaha Not everyone agrees on how things should be done or what fish need what care...we would want AC vids to be very factual and professional..as close to uncritisizable as possible...I'm not sure how many vids/topics of that sort could be put together, once the basic care and nitrogen cycle vids are done. This is a good point you bring up, everyone has differing opinions for most topcis. A few solutions I can think of are, A; The same way you explain a fishless/fish-in cycle and using pure ammonia opposed to fish food or dead shrimp. You explain each side of the story, and the pros and cons of each method. This could make for long videos though, depending on the topic but I'm sure you could break them down a bit more. Or B; simply edit together the views of a few different individuals into one video and the people themselves can explain it. I think it would be wise to avoid questionable topics to begin with. I think eventually you could just let people send in videos, and if they reach the mark than they get posted. AC wants to build/maintain a good reputation.

I think 2 weeks would be best. It would probably be best to release videos in some sort of logical order, I'm not sure yet.

It would be nice too, seeing as there could be many people doing these vids, that something of an AC template be created for all to follow so as to give all AC videos some consistency and a home or AC theme.Needs something like a time limit to videos, an intro, and it's probably a good idea to have the person mention AC at the start of their videos - probably helps stop people from using the footage elsewhere too.

Haha I'm already halfway down the street. Havnt filmed anything but I've thought about it a bit. I'd rather see it well organised than just just something quickly slapped together on a whim. Remember the 7 P's; prior planning and preparation prevents p!$$ poor performance!
It will take a bit of work but it could turn out to be awesome. Theres only 1 other aquarium specific video site that I know of, and shall remain nameless.
