  1. Question Is my young Platy pregnant?

    Hi,
I have had my young pintail Platy for a few weeks now. She is doing great, as are the other Platy. I have only females in my tank for sure. However, I think she may be pregnant, and I have read that it's possible for a Platy to hold sperm for a while. She was in a large, mixed tank at the pet shop. Several Platy in that tank were certainly pregnant - would I be right in saying that if one Platy is pregnant, there's a male in the tank, and all the females are probably pregnant?

My gut instinct says that she is pregnant. Her stomach dips down, and is gently rounded.

She's so small though, smaller than most other Platy in the shop. I'd say she's about 3 months.

Do you think she's pregnant, from the attached photo? Could she be pregnant at this age? I have no idea so any guess would be greatly appreciated. :)IMG_1716.jpgIMG_1667.jpg

    Thanks so much :)

She could be pregnant but she does not seem pregnant to me. Atleast not very far gone. They will become a lot fatter and their belly more box shaped as they get closer to giving birth. To me she looks like a healthy female. Nothing more. That does not mean she is not pregnanet. Just that it is to early to say for sure.

    (based on pictures)
Do as I say. Not as I do.

Dose not look pregnant to me are there males in the tank? Wait a few weeks then you will know for sure.
