Tomorrow I plan on working on the tank and getting it really up and looking good. I am going to clean the filter, add an air stone, and for the first time, clean the gravel. I've got a gravel vac, but have never been able to clean the gravel because I can't figure the dang thing out. It's supposed to start on it's own after submerging it, but I can never get it to start.

I also need to figure out what the frogs are going to eat while I'm away on vacation. The young neighbor girl is very against having to thaw out a chunk of bloodworm and pop it in the tank. Pellets don't seem to be working too well, as the frogs aren't used to them. Shoot.

For the gravel vac to work you can do one of three things. Put the siphon end into your tank and move it up and down rapidly till it starts to pull water through. This might take a little bit for it to catch and siphon. You can also suck on the hose till it pulls enough water into the hose. Don't get it in your mouth, just leave a U shape bend in the hose and suck until that U is filled with water, then point it into the bucket, should start the siphon. The final method is the roll the whole thing up and submerge it in the tank so the whole siphon is in the water. Once it fills with water leave the gravel vac end in the water, plug the other end with your thumb and move it out and into your bucket.

I'm thinking about upgrading to a 20 gallon long tank. Get several more frogs and really let them go wild. I love to see them swim around and they're neat little guys.

I've decided I'm going to give raising the tadpoles a shot. In the right jar there are several eggs. The jar on the left will be used for water changes later down the road. Since ADF tadpoles are sensitive to temperature changes, the jars are sitting in a water bath, where the water is around 75F. Fingers crossed!

In order to feed the tadpoles, I had to buy some brine shrimp eggs. So today I set up a hatchery and got started on the 24 hour process:
