Ah okay. I'll get a bucket, fill it, dechlorinate it, then add it that way. I wasn't sure if adding more water would throw off my readings or not, but glad to know it won't.

It'll be fine, no worries. The concentration of ammonia will change ever so slightly, but not enough to harm the cycle.

Looks like ammonia is down to .50, but nitrites have shot way up:

those nitrites will probably stay high for some time as well. I am hoping mine is done cycling in the next few days - I had a major nitrite drop yesterday. but I will make sure I get a couple days straight of 0 ammonia and 0 nitrites before I do the massive water change and start catching all my molly fry
    Current tanks:
37G FW - 3 Pearl Gourami, 4 Black Mollies, approximately 20+ Molly Fry, 5 Assassin Snails | 10G Planted FW - 14 Molly Fry, rocks, DW and an Anubias Nana - journal

So now, I assume I shouldn't test for nitrates until the nitrites drop, right?

you can test to verify when they show up, but once they are there, they won't be going away. They will probably be off the charts once it is cycled though. Thus the very very large water change prior to putting the fish in.

My tank took 5 weeks...you have to be patient...the wait is worth the reward.

Mine as well, 5 weeks is not that long. Nothing says you can't scape it while it's cycling. I don't know how many times I moved the rock in my SW tanks in the 5 weeks until I was happy. I don't do my fishless like most here, dose it once to 4.0 and forget about it was my way, worked fine for me but I do seed my filters from my HOB (always have a small extra bag). From what I see your well on your way to a healthy, properly established home for your soon to be charges. Good luck and look forward to seeing a few photos in a few months...

Ammonia levels have hit zero. Looks like I'm about to dose about 1.5 mls.
