I believe that's a 29 gallon. It's not so dirty, just scrub it clean, check to see if the seals are in good condition, and fill it up to test for leaks. There are some good DIY stands in the DIY forum here and its much cheaper than buying one. This hobby doesn't have to be expensive, you just have to know where to look for deals.

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

White vinegar will work well to clean up that tank...

Yep, that tank isn't too bad at all. I've seen much worse come out looking pretty clean. Like slap said, use some white vinegar. Let it soak on the spots that are tough and you'll be good to go. Just test it for leaks first.

Guess I'll just not purchase this kit.

However, I did do some digging under my deck and found some old tanks that we used to use some years ago. I noticed a small 10 gallon, a bigger one, and a reptile tank that is rather wide.

The bigger one I'm interested in is 30 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 18.5 inches tall. It's a decent size, but is rather narrow. Heck, I'm not even sure if it still holds water...
Reptile tanks are not suitable for use as aquariums, as they are not built to hold the weight of water.

I think Kevin's offer is a really good one. I would see if the two of you can agree on a price. That will set you up very nicely. If you don't want a big tank, a 20 long or your 29 gal are nice sizes to start with.

    Sounds good, thanks everyone.

I'll clean it up in the next few days. Right now I'm trying to search for a stand. I have little to no woodworking skills, so I'd rather not buy one. My fear is that the stand would collapse under the weight, so I'd just rather buy one, or use a regular table or similar.

I'm considering Kevin's offer, it was a nice one and I could just walk right down the road

    Check Craigslist for a stand.

I wish I still had the extra stand I had, but I sold that a while ago.

These are good quality and had at a good price (plus, they're on sale): http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...83&pcatid=9883

Otherwise, if you want to go cheap but stable, invest in some cinder blocks, stack them up and drape a black (or whatever color) cloth over it.

Oh wow, not bad at all! But, would that really support the weight of a tank without it falling over? That would be my fear with one of those, is that it would tip over easily...

I have two of them holding tanks right now. One of them holds a 40B and the other holds two 20Ls. You'll be fine.
