My optimistic dwarf
I have two dwarf gouramies in my 55. Both males. They aren't friendly, exactly, but they get along reasonably well. I recently disconnected the bubbler in one side of the tank to reduce current and prepare the way for some new floating plants. Last night I was surprised to discover that one of them had built a bubble nest in the dead spot! I inadvertently annihilated it while doing tank maintenance (surprising fragile!), but this morning he was back at it, rebuilding.
Poor little guy has to know that the other dwarf in the tank is also a male, but I guess he hasn't made the connection that there are no females. Maybe he somehow heard about that old Costner movie...If I build it, they will come!

How to cycle without fishies!

Thanks, guys; I now have this scene running through my mind every time I do anything with my tank...
