    Thanks for the feedback.

After two attempts at having him ingest some Epson salt granules, I gave him a Epson salt bath and still no poop. Removing from his tank to a hospital tank was very traumatic. It was like wrestling with an alligator. He damaged his fins, gills, and areas of his body while thrashing around in the net and in the hospital tank. He appears traumatized and worse off than he was to begin with. I also gently massaged the abdomen area and was relieved that the tissue was not hard to the touch (was worried about a tumor). While no poop came out I did hear gas escaping from his bum. Not sure what it all means. Regardless, I don't think I'll be removing him from the tank anymore.

RIP Oscar. :( I left the house at 9pm and he was still sulking and a little beat up from the treatment but othewise fine. Got home at 1am and he was gone. I think the treatment, thrashing and stress may have hastened his death. I really hope it did not cause it. Feeling like I should have done things differently like letting the illness run its course?? For five years he was a great wet pet...by far my favorite and the showcase of all of my tanks. That said, I doubt I will keep Oscars again. Thanks to all of you who often advice and feedback. I really appreciate it. Dan

Sorry for the loss, Oscars are cool fish. Don't be hard on yourself, there's really nothing you can do when they get sick like that. I prefer to clove oil mine when I know they're done so they don't suffer. I've lost my my Oscar, the green terror in my avvy, a Managuense(my favorite I was depressed for a week) and a Nicaragua cichlid all in a similar fashion.

Sorry for your loss. It is unlikely that anything you did had a negative effect on him. If anything it gave him a chance to survive.
Do as I say. Not as I do.
