Ok so in a couple months I may move really close to a beach that has a ton of.baby fish and adult fish and hermits and snails and lr sooooo I am wanting to get a small 5-10 gallon tank when I move and stock it with stuff from the beach I have no idea what tank or equipment I want but after I have the small one set up for about a year I will upgrade to at least a 20 gallon long I know taking some things from the beach are ilegal but taking a little live rock for personal use should be fine, all tips, suggestions and replys are appriciated.

I would not recommend taking anything out of a coral reef without first getting the proper permits. Our coral reefs need to be carefully managed to ensure they will still be there for future generations to come.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

My apologies, I assumed you had researched what live rock is, what it does, and how it's made. The live rock we typically use in aquariums is only found in or around reefs. It is actually made from the calcified skeletons of dead corals (and some marine creatures to a much lesser extent). Corals die, new corals start growing on top, and so on until a good base of live rock is created.

You might want to do a little more research on live rock. While you can pull just about anything out of the ocean and expect to find beneficial bacteria on it which will "help" you aquarium, it will not preform all the same functions that actual live rock rock (as described above) will. You can't afford to cut corners in such a very small tank.

Ok I know what live rock is it is moatly calcium carbonate from stony coral skelatons but this is live rock they bring in rock it minimize eroson but this dosent look the same but I have found amphipods, copepods, crabs, snails, and even bristleworms so I thought some of that and some sand and I would be good.

Talldutchie: The OP lives in Florida were it is very very illegal to harvest live rock from the ocean without permits.

To the OP, after taking 3 minutes to google the topic, I found the two below links. Just imagine what I could have found if I actually made a effort !!!

Ok but I have also seen stuff that says you can take a small amount for personal use.
