Laws down here are more like guidelines. Atleast that is what the locals would tell you.

I am allowed to collect lava rock on some but not all volcanoes. Some are prodected. I can however usually hire indigenous people to do it legally even in protected area.

Awe its just like a piece of the old west. "Oh you looked at my girl? BLAM!" lol.... So have you thought to what types of mbuna you are housing? And would it potentially be better to go with Haps? They offer bigger bodies, more diverse body shapes and styles and are equally suited to this type of habitat.

I will most likely have to settle for the Mbuna I can get. Atleast initially. When It is well established I will consider importing some myself and then I will have more choice. I hope to atleast be able to find some demasoni.

As for haps. Actually I think the pool is going to big enough with enough open water to house haps, mbuna and Aulonocara without to much agression problems. There will after all be 6 ft of water outside of the stone formations where the mbunas as going to spend most of their time. Reluctant to give up on mbunas due to their algae eating qualities.

Well take into account too... I have peacocks, haps and mbuna in a 75gal so a 6ft pool would be no issue im sure.

An option that might help the plant situation would be bamboo or other super hardy thick stem plants. I dont see the plan them selves being an issue just the roots but those can be protected easly

IDK the local availability but hornwart makes a great plant for my tank, and I just anchor that to a rock. Got the idea from the 2012 tank entry from germany into the aquascaping contest.

Bamboo does not really like to have their roots too wet. I think you might be refering to Lucky bamboo that is a dracena not a bamboo species. Either way I do not think this will be a problem.

Hornwart is available here and I have used it a lot in the past. Might be a bit to fast growing to use though. To be honest i do not know how many if any submersed plants i want. It should be easy to swim as well.

You could probably line the edges with submersed plants. That way, they'll clean the pool, but stay on the outskirts (maybe line 1/3 or 2/4 of the edge). Not sure if you're planning on having shallow edges or not, like a lake?

The pool is allready dugg and cemented. The sides have a 3 ft drop and then from there it slops down to the full depth..

I considered adding a small waterfal to one side
