Dwarf cichlids differ in predatory behavior.
All my Bolivians could easily swallow small guppies, but they ignore them even when the guppies are swimming around in front of their mouths. Besides that, the rams spend most of their time at the bottom, and the guppies at the top.
My laetacara dorsigera on the other hand, swim right to the top and actively stalk and eat young guppies with great success. They spend most of their day doing it and now I'm actually worried there won't be enough guppies surviving to maturity.

See, I made the mistake of assuming that when it came to snackable fry, a cichlid is a cichlid is a cichlid- they'd all naturally enjoy going after the babies. Hm, well I guess I'll just have to see what my new GBR does when she's put into the community tank. I have no qualms about culling the fry myself if need be so at the very least I'll have a nice centerpiece fish for the tank.
