Levamisole HCI Pure and Baby Pleco's
I have Camallanus Nematode (red hair looking worms protruding from vents) in my tanks. I am going to treat with Levamisole HCI Pure.
My problem is I have month old silver tipped pleco's and 2 week old albino pleco's; both sets are also Bushy nosed. Will my babies be safe during the treatment, or should I remove them and treat them later.
Thanks for the help

I tried Levamisole before and it didn't work for me. These Nematodes have become stronger over the years, due to over-medication in tanks, etc. There are new strains that have become resistant to older meds. I would try DeWorming Fish Flakes from Angels+. DeWorm 3 is what worked for me. Here's a link: http://www.angelsplus.com/FlakeMedWorm.htm

fenbendazole should be safe but personally... I wouldn't do this. Growing fish are quite sensitive. Are you sure this is Camallanus and not tubifex?
If you do decide to go ahead with it do be sure to keep a close eye on your water. Decomposing worms can cause an ammonia spike and your fry will not cope with that well at all. s

Yes! Two of my tanks seem fine with the med. My 20 gallon now has worms everywhere....dead and alive!!! I have been vaccuming them out constantly. One month plecos babies seem okay. Where the heck did all of these worms come from! There where only the ones protruding form there rectums and now an explosion of them.
Should I add more med.? The canister filter holds more water, and I didn't factor that in.

That's good that it's working. You should wait at least 3 days before dosing again, and that's after a big water change.

Okay, The worms are much less. But still moving. I will wait another day and then water change and retreat if necessary. I am retreating in 3 weeks as per instructed.
