Thread: Hello friends !

  1. Default continuing with my plead for help ... !!

apologies for posting here as im naive on such blogs n forums , so kindly bear that out with me

i posted the pics of the acquarium of my molly babies , you can see it , heater , gravel , oxygen supply from external tank with the external device showed in one of pics . I posted pic of the filter/pump in the acquarium of my adult mollies .

My main issue is that if i place this big black filter/pump in baby acquarium , all my baby mollies and platies will get sucked in and killed . What can i do ? in absence of this pump the water is getting very very messy with minced pellets and flakes and either i hve to do complete or partial water change displacing babies [ a back breaking exercise ] . Water source is common tape water [ only source available for all my three acquairums ] .

Methylene blue is given by acquarium shops to buyers that adding some drops help in cleaning the water every week or so .

waiting for further responces for help

    Thank you !

Take an aquarium sponge, cut a slit in the middle and put it over the filter intake. Alternatively, pantyhose apparently also works well.

If you are suggesting to put the acquarium sponge on the longitudenal slits for intake on the filter , how would it then serve the purpose mate ! im a bit confused here . 002.jpg

I see, it isn't a "typical" filter I expected. The point of covering the intake slits with sponges or pantyhose is to reduce the hole size so that young fry do not get sucked in, which I understand is your problem. With a filter like yours I would recommend pantyhose over sponge.

sponge over slits and pantyhose over it [ or a tiny slit cloth net may be ] ... hmm thankx , so u consider it a must to place this in my baby tank ? i posted the pic and problem on page one , so you think it wold solve my problem? ..thank you again for responce .

As suggested above, you MUST get a filter on that tank as soon as possible...can you order equipment online?...27 liters is just over 7 gallons, you need filtration for twice that amount (54 liters, or about 15 gallons)

Also please read the cycling with fish sticky, that tank needs to be cycled...the sticky id here:
