  1. Default Endlers OK for 6 gallon Fluval Edge?

    0 Not allowed!
Just bought a small nano tank for my mom and trying to help her pick out fish. I am definitely going to plant tank (low-tech) moss, crpyt, anubia species, hairgrass, and am considering fauna options:

    1. Leave out heater and go with and shrimp?
    2. Get heater and do endlers?
    3. She loves frogs - African dwarf? Anything cooler?

I think males only would be great. If you had males and females the population might eventually end up too high.

    What about RCS and endlers.

Thats exactly what I was thinking! A friend of mine breeds them and will sell me 15 for $15 (red cherry shrimp). He also has endlers but will only sell pairs so I may end up just selecting males from lfs. How many would you say?>

    Thanks Hardy

personally I'd say start with the endlers (after cycle of course)

Probably 10-15 males - a friend of mine up hear sells shrimp and has some cool endlers (Chili endlers and green lightening endlers). I could see what he would charge, think he typically does 30 shrimp shipped for $25 and possibly could do the fish for $1-2 each (I can try to work on that but no guarantee)

what is the filter like in that tank?

Comes with one of the aquaclear mini. I'm going to leave out the carbon and just add more media. Agreed with adding shrimp last...

I asked my buddy if he will sell me males only. How many endlers would you say? I understand they are pretty fast and appreciate room to swim

Honestly, in my 10g I probably have 15-20 at any point in time. I would say 10 would be fine

OTOH this project will recieve daily care for a beginner so you might wanna go a bit lower.
I'm not entirely sure if two pairs would be a bad idea. You can usually give away endlers unlike guppies.

I will be helping her maintain it. Thought that in 6 gallon filled with substrate and wood, would prob be more like 5 gallons so changing 1 gallon weekly should be enough but can adjust as needed after testing for nitrates etc.

We have a planted 4.5 gallon tank with 6 Endlers males and about 30 red cherry shrimp.

For our tank I feel that is the perfect number of endlers

    Cheers
    I think I want a bigger tank!!

I wouldn't keep any fish (other than maybe a small school of micro rasbora) in less than a 10 gallon. In my opinion that tank size is only suitable for shrimp.
